Bouchra Jarrar is the new creative director of Lanvin

The French fashion house appointed the French designer Bouchra Jarrar the new artistic director of the women's line, after the dismissal, in October 2015, the Israeli designer Alber Elbaz, who had held the position for the past fourteen years. Elbaz, who had returned to Lanvin success, he left because of disagreements with the owner of the company, the Taiwanese entrepreneur Shaw-Lan Wang Jarrar, and after a sales slump of recent years: profits rose from 11 , 9 million EUR in 2012 to 2.9 in 2014. Jarrar officially take office Monday, March 14, and his first collection will be that for the spring / summer of 2017, which will be presented in autumn. After the dismissal of Elbaz, Lanvin asked the fashion studio led by Chemena Kamali and Lucio Finale to realize the collection for autumn / winter 2016: marched recently in Paris but did not like the press.

 

Jarrar was born in Cannes in 1970, and is of Moroccan origin. After studying at the École Duperré fashion school, he worked for two years by Jean Paul Gaultier designing jewelry, and then moved on to Balenciaga, where he was responsible for the ready-to-wear for the creative director Nicolas Ghesquière. After ten years at Balenciaga went to direct the high fashion for the French brand Christian Lacroix, where he remained until 2009. In 2010 he launched his own brand of high fashion, parading once a year at Fashion Week Paris. From 2013 is an official member of the French Federation of Haute Couture.

His clothes are designed especially for the day, contrary to those of Elbaz, who linked the name of Lanvin to sumptuous cocktail dresses.
